Remember when Numrich was selling budget-priced underhammers under the Hopkins & Allen name? Must be 50 years ago. There were three or four models, a "Buggy Rifle", a "Heritage" model, a target model and the "Deerstalker." And for some reason I have an itch to know which was which. Searching the 'net hasn't helped!

The buggy model was available in .36 caliber, and the Deerstalker was, I believe, a .58. And the target model had a longer barrel, bored .45. Is caliber all that differed between them? What distinguished the 'Heritage' from the others?

I have one of the two different versions of the Numrich Arms Buggy Rifle.
Mine is a .45 with a 20 inch barrel and a one piece stock that has a straight receiver similar to the H&A boot pistol except longer, while the receiver of their other version had the classic elbow bend in it.
The other version was made in .45 and .36 according to people who have posted about theirs.
I'm not positive but I think that mine is the older version.

I've had three, the .58, the target .45 and a shotgun I made from another one. Wish I had the shotgun and target back.

I have a "target " in .45 . The barrel is huge , 1 1/8" x 36" ! It is great off the bench , too heavy for me to hold anymore. VERY accurate with.451 Maxi balls and a wad or .433" balls and .015" patch .
