while getting my ccl in ny i have been able to shoot pistols at the local range because it is an "approved range". does anyone know what the ny definition of this is? can i call my backyard plinking alley "approved" if it meets certain criteria? for those not in state, at an "approved range" is the only place that you may take a friend shooting if they have no ccw. other than that and they are not allowed to handle a pistol (not even in a gun shop!!).
