NY: Confirmed - You have until 4/15 to buy ten round magazines

A: As of April 15, 2013, only magazines that can contain 7 rounds or less will be sold in New York, including permanently modified magazines.

If, like many of us, you own a pistol for which a SEVEN round magazine is unavailable, you will need a TEN round magazine for it. You have about six weeks to find one.

Many sellers will not ship to NY because they think that this portion of the law took effect immediately. Instead, we have sixty days from the time the bill was signed.

nothing defined there as far as what "permanently modified" means. pop rivets? extension glued to the follower?

Anyone know what counts?

My understanding is that the rules for modifying magazines has not been defined yet. However, during the last AWB it was not easy to do.

They say you can permanently modify them to hold only 10 rounds; Q: What if I have a magazine that can contain more than ten rounds?
A: You can permanently modify the magazine so that it holds no more than ten rounds, responsibly discard it, or sell it to a dealer or an out of state purchaser by January 15, 2014. yippee Obviously it has to be made so it cannot be remade back to a 30...

That's perfectly legal under the new law. Only problem is that you have to possess the 8-rounders before April 15.

There's no problem there...I've had them for years now. But would they have to be "Modified" to only hold 7 by April 15?

Nope. Only the over-ten round mags have to be modified or disposed of, and you have a year to do it.

Over 50 years old and they are OK? If p mags were going for $80 and they have to get rid of them now, what would one of these bring in NY now?
