I've been contacting some NY shops that were mentioned in an older thread here on THR.

They are:
Accurate Arms
Taylor & Vadney
Shooter's Highland
Andrean Arms
American Outdoor Sports
Camp-Site Sports
Long Island Shooting Center
Avon Gun & Hunting Supply
R&B Firearms
Schulties
Apple Town

Are there any other shops that you think are good in terms of service, price, selection, etc?

Thanks for any replies.

Chesters Hunting and Fishing - great service, good prices, decent selection

Just moved to a new location, still have the same number I think:
631-696-3800

Wholesale Guns & Ammo, Inc. (aka Burns Brothers) - good for C&R type stuff.

http://www.gunsnammo.com/

T & T Gunnery - great selection, not so great prices

3778 Merrick Rd
Seaford 11783
No phone number on hand

collector's rifle and ammo
they're in hopewell junction, ny

very good prices
they also are willing to order new handguns that don't have the fired casing required for ny's ballistic fingerprint law (e.g., Colt handguns)
they take the guns to the state police for id'ing for you

lots of new and used guns in their shop.

A few more......

The Buffalo Gun Center, probably the most well stocked shop in the western end of the state.

Johnson's , with stores in Lockport amd Hamburg

The Cabin Range, mostly guns and accessories, with skeet and sporting clays fields.

Monkeyleg, i'm curious. Have you already contacted all of these shops? If so, that's quite the impressive calling list! What in particular are you shopping for if you don't mind my asking?

Harry's Gun & Stuff
Willet, NY
607-863-4088

He's just opened shop last month in Cortland County. Has an excellent, pro-customer attitude. It's a bit off the beaten trail, but Harry's a stand-up guy. He's located just off of Route 221 about twenty minutes east of I-81 by Marathon, NY.

He can order almost anything and his prices are fair for NY State.

FFL transfers are a flat $25.00, even for Internet trades.

He has a real sweet scandium J-frame in his shop for $419 out the door right now I am eyeing up. He also has a nice inventory of rifles and hunting supplies.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like some good shops. Chester's number has changed, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet, there's no answer and B&J, and I get generic voicemail greeting at Harry's.

Ah, the joys of telemarketing!

Thanks, 762x31.

12GA, I found their number just before you posted. And you're right about B & J. It sure seems like a top-notch shop. Plus, they decided to try out my site.

Bulldozer, I talked with Harry for a bit today, and he wants me to talk to his wife tomorrow about listing their shop on the site. I read your post to him and he was mighty pleased. He said he thinks he may know who you are. If so, you just might be able to get a better deal on that scandium J-frame now! ;)

Monkeyleg,
Thanks for the heads-up! Harry gets all of my business these days as he is the closest, most service-oriented, and best priced. If you blink, you'll miss his store, so any publicity would help him out. He's a retired LEO.
