This is not gun related but more a decrease of our rights in general in NYC. Ive been a couple of times to visit a very close friend. While I liked it I could never live there. We always go on about NYC and gun rights, the 2A etc But here they are trying to erode our 1st A rights. This is cut/pasted form a photo forum I am a member of.

"Maybe we should chock it up to the post 9/11 world, but I just read that NYC is trying to place some serious restrictions on casual photographers shooting street scenes. According to an email I got today from a boutique b/w lab out of NY (MV Labs), they are petitioning heavily against a new restriction that would require two or more casual photographers who shoot in the street for more than 30 minutes to get a city permit and $1 million in liability insurance. Talk about a breach of our first amendment rights. I hope this does not set a precedent in other cities. It's just another opportunity for Big Brother to monitor our actions."

Now this could be a meant as a way of earning revenue form film companies/commercial video/photography. But Ill bet you if this is true and goes through they will use it as a way to hassle even the tourist or photo student/enthusiast.

Does anyone live in NYC and if so can you verify this? If so Id like to know. Could be a letter from me to the mayors office explaining how much money the tourist and all the photo students will be essentially criminals from now on.

Thanks
Buda
