NYC Mayor Called 'Blooming Idiot' for Supporting Illegal Aliens

22 junky, I wish President Bush would change his mind about the borders and illegal immigration.

Yes, the mayor is a blooming idiot, but so is the city for having him in office, especially after 9-11. It's kinda like Nagin in New Orleans or who was that doper they reelected in D.C.? Let's hope Abe Lincoln was right; you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Where is Ross Perot when we need him? I'm looking for a 3rd party to break up this Dem/Rep stranglehold. There's not a tits worth of difference between them.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Third party candidacies typically bring parties/politicians to power with very low political support that could never make it on their own. Go to any European country and you can see this form of government in action.

FWIW...copy of e-mail I sent to Mayor Bloomberg from his web site:
Mayor Bloomberg,
You certainly have mixed priorities...you want to allow ILLEGAL aliens and punish LEGAL gun owners! How about reversing that idea and punishing the ILLEGAL folks and supporting the LEGAL ones. This action you have taken to reward ILLEGALS and punish LEGALS brings serious question to your ethics.

Web site can be found by following the links to the mayor's e-mail on the right hand side of the page.

Bloomberg said: "Although they broke the law by illegally crossing our borders ... our city's economy would be a shell of itself had they not, and it would collapse if they were deported. The same holds true for the nation."

True or not, it is this perspective which is stopping any serious effort to get a handle on the situation. Add to that the money the employers are willing to spend on political contrubutions and it should be clear why the wheels are just spinning. Nothing will change this until somebody suffers some big losses at election time.

The idea that the comparative strength of our economy rests on the sweat of unskilled laborers is so absurd that only a politician or a think-tank economist could believe it. Or, rather, pretend to.

The historic norm for societies has been the autocrat and the plantation; we are gradually working our way back from the explosion of reason and liberty of two centuries ago. It's called political recidivism.

It's only a matter of time before terrrorists make use of the open borders so lusted for by the plutocrats. Most of these wheelers and dealers operate, ironically enough, in the prime targets in the United States. God is nothing if not poetically just.
