Nylon Belt Recommendation

Wilderness Frequent Flyer.
I don't like the weight and bulk of the Instructor's metal buckle.
I have never needed one to rappel but once... and I didn't have a rope then anyhow.

I do not own the Frequent Flyer belt that Mr. Watson recommends, but if I ever need to replace my Instructor belt, it will be with one of these. The Instructor buckle is rounded and comfortable, but very heavy. It looks like you could lift a car with one, I am pretty sure it would work...

No metal buckle is a bonus at the airport for sure. I feel a little degraded walking barefoot holding my pants up with one hand and carrying a tub with my possessions in the other. I really really dislike the airport.

The webbing on the wilderness 5 stitch models is very stiff and yet very comfortable. Unless I need to be super spiffy (very rare occurrence), I wear mine everywhere, pistol or no. It turns out that super stiff belts hold your pants up better in general too!

Good info, everything on I've read says to go for the Wilderness, now I just need to decide between the instructor and frequent flyer :)

Completely satisfied with my Wilderness Instructors. :) I have two, one black, one brown, but the black goes better with more of my clothing. An advantage of this type of belt over a leather one is infinite adjustability. Sometimes a buckle hole in a leather belt may be too loose and the next one in is a little tight.

Cabelas has 'em on sale right now. (I had to send my first one back and order the next smaller size cuz they are cut kind of long)

This one

Mine came in yesterday. That is one tough belt. Its thick, well made, and a 3" all steel .357 couldn't drag it down, even when I didn't have it super tight. The excess also velcros back to the belt after going through the clasp

Do you or anyone else know if it's the same as the Uncle Mike's Instructor I posted? It looks nearly identical from the picture, but it doesn't say anything about the Kydex reinforcement. If it is the same it's a heck of a good deal!

Kydex shouldn't be part of these, but Mylar reinforcements usually are.
Are you saying they're the same and that the Uncle Mike's isn't Kydex? Or are you saying they're different and the Cabela's is Mylar? Well, actually, I don't care what they're made of, but the Uncle Mike's is extremely stiff and perfect for a holster. I'm just curious if the Cabela's is the same stiffness.

I may have been abusing the word "Kydex", although I know Comp-Tac claims their belt is made with Kydex.
