Looking though the 2 books I have (Lyman 48, modern reloading 2nd edition Lee) they each have 2 different OAL for the 44mag 300gr jsp. 1.60 - 1.720 which should I use? Was planning on using IMR4227 20gr. To be used in my
Ruger Super Red hawk. Am I reading the charts wrong because 0.12 is a big difference. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I believe that a super blackhawk requires the shorter oal and the redhawk & super redhawk the longer length can be used. make up a couple of dummy rounds and try them. I'm assuming that your bullet has two crimping grooves

Did a comparison between my nosler 240 and 300gr. The 240gr .699 and the 300gr .875. Was hoping the 300 gr was.120 longer then the 240 but thats not the case. Old lady is home so I can forget about setting up press to try out. I will not load when Old lady is home as she will not leave me alone uninterrupted. And there is only one grove.

I use a 300 gr bullet that I cast myself from a Saeco mold block
overall length is 1.60' and fits both my Redhawk and SBH.
