Obama: Ban all semi-automatics

So whats your point, are you going to vote for him?

My point is for some on the site to cut out the 'sky is falling' mentality. I dont see him getting the nomination. Obama says one thing, but people on this site take it as gospel of what 'will' happen. Banning semi-autos would ban almost every gun in the country. After the Democrats went through all the trouble of getting 'blue dog' candidates elected, you think they'd threaten their base in states like OH and VA by voting for a semi auto ban? Not in a million years. I consider that about as silly as Dennis the Menace's 'hand gun ban'.

If memory serves, a ban on semi-autos was part of the "what he believes" section of his website as late as last year.

I didnt notice that but I wouldnt be surprised. Notice it was 'purged' about the time he started running then.

but if it came to him vs Hillary, I'd go with him, and if it came to him vs Giuliani.

He is far to the left of Hillary, I consider him far more dangerous for this country than her.

Oh, and hell no I am not going to vote for him. We'll see who the Republicans run, I want Paul but who knows what will happen.

I dunno... Oprah just came out officially supporting him. I'll be curious as to what the "Oprah-effect" will be. While I don't see her endorsement swaying the presidential election, I do see how it can be a boon in the Dem primaries.

There ARE people who will make decisions based on what Oprah says. It's no wonder that any book hitting the 'Oprah book club' hits the best-seller list approximately 45 seconds after its posted. Sadly, there are people who take more time picking out a book to read than they will in picking a President.

She didnt 'just' come out supporting him. She supported him when he first announced he was running.

Barack Obama also voted to ban .30-30 (And all centerfire outside of maybe a .22) ammunition - In 2005. So did Hillary for that matter. Remember the Kennedy amendment to the stoppage of frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers. It was voted on twice. Once in 2004 (when Obama was a state senator) and once in 05.

This guy is the same weasel as he was in the State Senate.

Agreed. I dont think hes changed a bit, he just hides from his past.

That would have been the death of 99% of hunting in the US.

* Exorcise the ghostly figure that haunts black dreams. (Aug 1996)

What? This man is a poverty pimp. He's not exactly a brother from the hood, hes a half white kid from Hawaii. What a phony.

I'll tell you what, I'm really glad that we voted those Republicans out of Congress in 2006 and replaced them with all these pro-gun Democrats who are calling all the anti-gun Dem Presidential candidates out on their anti-gun stances. I'm also glad that Ron Paul has such a strong following in this country. He's a shoo-in to win the whitehouse. Yep, Ron Paul and a pro-gun Democrat congress, that's what we'll be seein' in 2008...:banghead:

Quote:
Here is what Barack Hussein Obama will say today:

(current news event) +
(...is morally equivalent to liberal cause favored by group I am speaking to today) +
(vote for me and the government will solve all of your problems)
And this is different from any other professional politician how? One of our biggest problems stems from "professional politicians". Those that have made their whole life revolve around getting elected to office, then doing whatever they have to do to stay in office. Obama is no different than most in this regard.

Granted, politicians will be politicians, but that does not mean they are all equivalent. It is a matter of degree. Some clearly have fewer scruples than others.
Who else does it to this degree?:
VT murders => "violence" of losing your job => Barack Hussein Obama is your man
Or: tornado (10, 000 dead) => Feds are not helping enough => Barack Hussein Obama is your man

He needs more practice. Let's hope he doesn't get it.

Obama sits on the board of directors of The Joyce Foundation.

You know, the organization that's one of the largest single financial backers of the anti-gun movement extant.

That, right there, should tell you everything you need to know about Obama.

I was looking through the joyce foundations website for that the last time you said that Justin, I never was able to find it though. Link?

Anyone who wants to "stay the course" or wants more troops in Iraq is not going to win. As far as I know, only one Republican candidate doesn't want to "stay the course."

But, apparently the Repubs have forgotten why they were punished in the last elections, and will continue to be punished. This is bad news for gunnies.

Whats even scarier is that despite all these blatant warnings, some people are still going to waste their vote on Ron Paul or some other non existant candidate to "send a message" even though it means a Clinton or Obama presidency.

Dude, that individual from NYC is at least as bad as them. So why is it a waste to flush him back down the Hudson?

I assume you're referring to guliani. If we are to take each man at their word  then guliani would leave gun control up to the states while Obama would actively try and ban everything.

However guliani isnt the only republican with a chance of winning. If thompson would get into the race then we'd have a really strong gun candidate with a good chance in the general election.

Despite all this there are plenty of people that will cast a vote for a candidate knowing he won't win. Whether its to send a message or to feel all warm and fuzzy, the result is the same with Obama in the white house.

That is a defeat we may never be able to come back from.

Thompson won't be getting my vote, it will go to Ron Paul in the Republican primary.

You know what would be really fun to watch? Some enterprising media figure asking Rudy what he thinks about Michael Bloomberg's anti-gun crusade -- setting up the question with an elaboration on Bloomberg's tactics & strategies once again so Giuliani can't claim ignorance on the subject, and the comparison to Giuliani's own attitude & anti-gun tactics -- right after the next time "America's Mayor" expresses his "support" for the RKBA. I'd bring crackers 'n' beer.

The "You gotta vote GOP no matter how crappy the candidate!" line is based on exactly the same premise that Dems tells blacks that they MUST vote for them--fear. "No, you can't stray because the BOOGIEMAN is going to get you"--this from the party that for the past 6 years has overseen the greatest destruction of the Bill of Rights EVER, and largest expansion of government since at least the New Deal.

You want the perfect formula for being taken completely for granted? Pull the same fricking lever every time, no matter what crap they dump on you.

I will not vote for a wannabe statist strongman (Guiliani, McCain) or a slimy, flipflopping infomercial salesman (Romney). The GOP better get at least a Thompson on top if they want my vote.

Meanwhile, in the primary, it will be Ron Paul all the way for me. I'm a registered independent and I'm switching to GOP for the primary just to cast that vote.

It is a sad commentary on our politics that people here get pilloried for voting their conscience, for actually voting for someone they respect and like. I pity you guys too afraid to do the same.

I always found that amusing, consdering this was once the party of Pro-Jim Crow laws.
