What a BIG statement that would make if the U.S. gun sales spiked just after the stimulus checks were mailed. Would it be great to see the look on barack's face when they analyze the "spending curve" just after a stimulus. The Admin's would be clambering to slam the door shut and looking for the shredders.

So tell everybody you know how to get their free guns... Just wait until you get your stimulus check and lets flood the NICS !!

Okay: to the critics, I know the money was ours to begin with so it is not technically free. The idea is the statement it will make.

I would like to here some idea's of how to...
1. Get the word out.
2. Get the NCIS transaction data in that time frame.
3. Let the world know that a radical liberal just handed out free guns.

Well since I owe taxes to the gummint, I suspect I won't get this next rebate, since I didn't get the one for 2008.

However, I get the feeling that I'll be buying guns anyway. :)

PS. I do sooo hate these "Economic Stimulus Tax Rebates" because they make people happy in thinking that the government is benevolent, when in reality its money they already took from us to begin with, and ferpete'ssake if taxes weren't so freakin sky high to start with (at the federal level), then we'd have never been in this recession situation to begin with. Why don't you just give the poor and middle class a HUGE, MONSTROUS, PERMANENT tax cut - that's what we need. That's what will stimulate the economy, not these stupid gimmicks.

As an added bonus, try to spend the money on an American made gun. It'll do a lot more good there than spending it on a Chinese designed flat screen TV built in Thailand.

I hear the BIG economic stimulus will equal $500 per taxpayer and $1,000 per married couple.

I liked Bush's better. His was $600 and $1,200.

Oh well, we'll keep looking at the bright side (whichever side that is).

Is it going to make a bigger statement than the spike in sales that has happened since the election?

why don't you come back in a generation or two and ask your grandkids how "free" that money was?

Outstanding idea. I did not know whatshisname was planning to give me back some of my own money, but I know what to spend it on. :D

Stimulus Check? Ha! Rob us with one hand, give us a little back with the other.

I foresee this thread spiraling out of control.

$200 of my tax return is going to the ATF. If we get another stimulus check I will be getting the blackest, scariest, most evil piece of metal I can that will make liberals wet themselves. Giving me money and trying to get rid of guns are contradictory actions.

I thought the stimulus was not going directly to the taxpayer?

I don't care anymore. If they wan't to borrow a few $T from the Chinese and hand it out over here, let 'em. I just hope it makes a big of a difference as the last stimulus!

EDIT: Oh, and I will most likely buy a FNP9 with the dough. (But like I said I thought I heard it wasn't "trickling down" to my level.)

Sorry to disappoint y'all, but the "stimulus" they're talking about is not individual rebate checks, but for continued recapitalization of the banking system, infrastructure projects, social programs, and some nature of a plan to stem the tide of forclosures (probably something like Shelia Bair has suggested, such as renegotiated loan terms in return for government backstopping of second default losses) .

And FWIW, its not "our" money the government is playing with, its our children's and grandchildren's money. They're the ones who will be saddled with paying back the Chinese for financing our current defecit spending.

Heh-heh. And the Chinese actually think we'll pay them back.

And we will because if the US doesn't maintain its triple-A rating, we'll start to look a lot more like a big version of the economy in Zimbabwe.

Are We shure the stimulus package is going to be a Check to tax payers again or a Bailout for the Construction Industry?

I'm against bailouts and stimulus packages. We, the people, pay for everything - sooner or later.

I heard a clip of President Reagan talking on the radio today...

He said (paraphrasing)

Congress spends, with the belief that it is all a matter of giving without acknowledging the taking.

Whatever stimulus Obama does IMMEDIATELY sign has yet to be finalized, but he has been clear before that he favors rebate checks in addition to various other bits of aid to certain industries.

And yes, I will absolutely put a bumper sticker on my car that says something to the effect of; "TAX STIMULUS=A NEW GUN!!" Although at this time, I need more ammo and magazines than a new gun.

+1 on that. That or they just print the money out of nothingness, causing inflation. Not to mention, people who are paying the most taxes in don't get anything back. I told one of the doctors I work for she could just write me a check for $600 and we could cut out the middle man. Anyway, ibtl.

I thought they made it clear that the next round was going to be money dumped into infrastructure and handed out to banks and whatnot. "create jobs" I believe is the idea. Not actually give anyone any money.
