Looking for some more information on an old .22 rifle I got for Christmas from a relative as a project gun for gunsmithing school. The only identifying feature I can find on it is that it says "Ranger .22 Cal S-L-LR" on the barrel. Google turns up nothing since there's not much to go on.
No manufacture marks, nothing that I can see since the gun is in pretty bad shape with rust, patina and pitting on the barrel and receiver. I'm thinking it's a Sears gun or something of the sort.
No serials on it which leads me to believe it was manufactured before the 1968 Gun Control Act so that makes this thing at least 44-45 years old. The double claw extractors are weird, especially for a .22 rifle.
