Odd .30 Remington headstamp

So I figure this is as good a place to ask this question. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here. About a year ago, I found an interesting brass casing with the following headstamp:

REM-UMC~30-30 REM

It is definitely a .30 Remington case, not a 30-30 Winchester. From my research Peters used to headstamp their brass as 30-30 Rem. But from everything I've read it looks like when Remington purchased UMC around 1910 or so, the brass was at that point marked .30 REM. So is what I have actually an oddball? I realize this is a long shot, but figured there isn't any harm in trying.

Sure, look here-http://www.ammo-one.com/30Remington.html The .30 Rem and .30-30 Win are virtually identical except for the extractor groove and rim.
