Been going to gun shows for 40 years. They have always been on weekends. Have one coming up later this month that will be on a Monday/Tuesday. My first thought was small crowd & better bargaining leverage. Second thought was a lot of vendors have M-F day jobs, and selection might be poor. I'm going, just not sure what to expect.

Anybody ever attend a Monday/Tuesday gun show?

I would be surprised if one could find enough venders to have a show on that time frame. Or customers wither. Just doesn't seem viable . Can you post more information ? Place , hours, etc.

I'd certainly go as well.... If only to see how it shook out.

I've set up and also gone to Thursday-Friday shows and been pleasantly surprised by the turn-out on both sides of the tables.

Monday-Tuesday? Never even heard of such a thing in gun-shows that were not distinctly trade-oriented and industry-invite only.

I have to guess that Mon-Tue was mandated by availability or cost of the venue.

Todd.

I have seen a few times when a show was opened Friday evening and run through Sunday. Friday evening then was an extra premium cost to get in. That only lasted a couple years and wasn't tried again due to many complaints by attendees . I ran ,(along with a friend) a 100 table show in a local armory for a couple years. It went over well. I gave the vendors a free meal (two BBQ sandwiches, potato salad, cold or hot beans ),each day, and an endless cup of free coffee. I also promised vendors that I would not purchase firearms as they came into the show. Along with that I did not allow the local newspapers to take pictures of their stuff, without the vendors permission. Unfortunately my friend decided to be a regular at the local Casino and dropped out with-ought enough time left for me to find a replacement for the third year. I had to cancel future shows. Instead of working one lousy weekend ( I did all the promotion) , he gambled away the contents of his shop.

I would gather a guess maybe they just posted the wrong dates? I too have never seen a Mon/Tue show. Used to go to a flea market only held on Mondays in Florida, a long time ago, believe it is still going on, Webster Florida I think it was. It was like the whole town was in on it and boy was it busy.

There is a good portion of the population that doesn’t work 9-5 m-f. Myself included the only two days I work a “real job” is Saturday and Sunday. No gun shows for me.

I also thought they might have listed the incorrect dates. But it would be that as well as indicating the incorrect days of the week. And there are other links besides the one I listed above, that show the same thing. I'm gonna go. I could arrive at an empty parking lot, but I need to blast out the particulate filter in the truck anyway. I'll let you all know what I find.

Maybe I'll find some of these.

So many local stores in the Memphis area are now advertising >> Mask-Less << shopping. Our retired friends at dinner, where we entered with No mask - a retired vaccine nurse and a pharmacist - just read us a partial list.

If TX is also brand-new to this, then maybe the show's promotors want to attract people who are out doing errands in slightly better mood.
Psychological boosts (i.e. post-vaccine/mask/Astronaut face shields) can certainly induce more spending.

I have seen some shows open on Thursday or Fridays to get the early shoppers but Monday & Tuesday doesn't make sense.
Unless they are trying to pick up the traffic from the real gun shops are closed. The shops around here close on Sun & Mon.

I used to love the gun shows as a kid. As an adult they have been a disappointment unless I find gear or components, parts, etc... but when I've gone it's been basically just to look over the guns, find that one gem or project gun or just an old 10/22 or whatever. I always get frustrated at gun shows since most of the ones I have gone to in the past decade have been "on the books". Looking for a private sale almost seems like a taboo subject and people give you the hairy eyeball, like "well why, would it be a problem for you to pass a background check". Like umm, no, but since 99.9% of the time I get delayed and the gun show is on a weekend and by the time I pass it everybody has already packed up and gone home........whats the point. smh. I miss the private sale, I mean loophole. :fire:

Yup, the private sale is my favorite way to go. Swapping cash for a firearm nobody knows I now have, makes me feel all warm & fuzzy.
