Odd question about firing range rules

The place you called was probably WADE'S in Bellevue. They had two suicides in succession a few years back, and have required the "see a gun" rule since then.

You should try SAM'S GUN SHOP in Everett. I don't believe thay have this rule, but you should give them a call, 425-348-3006. They have a good selection of handgun rentals and a couple of pistol-caliber rifles. If schedules permit, I'd be willing to take you there and let you fire some of my guns.

I would look for another range OR just explain the situation to them and show some I.D. and that should take care of the worries from the range. I doubt most people contemplating suicide would go to the trouble to fly out of their country to another one just to commit suicide.

There is a range north of Seattle, north of Everett. My best bud works there part time. It is in Arlington, just a few minutes east of I-5. If you are interested, PM me and I will pass it on to him. He may just be in a good mood help you get started with a rental gun. Or let you shoot one of his.

Heck, PM me and if our plans allow I will take you shooting on an outdoor range, where the muzzle blasts are not so intimidating. I have a selection to include some very nice .22s, always a good beginner's gun. And if it is a good day, you will hear the Seattle Police going full-auto around the corner :D It is where they practice. Where else can you hear angry dogs and gunfire on the same range?
