Full Auto Ranges In Las Vegas?

Here is the one I went to last time.

However in the phone book there are about half a dozen that rent them.
I will be headed out to LV tomarrow and while there I will be trying a "unregulated" range outside of Boulder City.

The closest is American Shooter's Supply on Arville, and then The Gun Store. I recommend The Gun Store as I hate to even go in the place on Arville, and they are cheaper on everything there. It is a ways from the Strip, and can get very crowded on weekends. Out in Henderson is Discount Guns, but that's even farther out.
There are two that I've been two. One is on Tropicana, 3400 block maybe? OK selection, nice people 
. They mostly have older subguns. I rented an MP5 once and it kept jamming so the range master brought out a Thompson for me to use free of charge . You are chaparoned though, so they don't explain any of the features about the weapon, they just give it to you and tell you to blast away. The other one is called American Shooting Center. Better selection of subguns, they have newer HK stuff like UMPs but they charge more for those. They will instruct how to fire automatic weapons and explain all of the features before they let you fire it. Oh yah, bring lots of $$$, you're going to need it .
Forgot: American Shooting Center is closest to Treasure Island and is on the west side of I15. I can't remember what street it's on.

The one on Tropicana is 'The Gun Store' IIRC.
Went there this February and shot a Thompson. What a blast!! It is spendy though. It cost me $65 for 100 rounds through the old Tommy gun, but it's not like you do it every week.
I don't think there's a hint of rifleing left in the Thompsons barrel though, 1/2 the rounds were key holes!

That's American Shooter's Supply on Arville. I can't stand the place - no CCW and they even want off-duty cops to leave their weapons outside. I think a full auto rental there is $20 more than The Gun Store. But, if you want the closest place from the airport/Strip, that's the one. The Gun Store is farther but worth it IMHO. I've yet to shoot a full auto and I've been here 8 months!

If you happen to be in town on the weekend they hold those DBS shoots, you can probably shoot dozens of machine guns for free. I am not sure when they are held but you might want to check the "Hometown" section of AR15.com. Or give Larry a call if he lists a number on that Area51 guns website and ask him about the DBS shoot (Desert Buffet Shoot = DBS). For that matter, if you go on the hometown section of AR15.com, most of those guys can answer the question of when they shoot. I don't shoot with those guys but it is very popular. The shoots are held monthly.
We are shooting a machine gun match at Desert Sportsmans tomorrow . Again, if you were there, I am sure you could do a little free shooting. I know I would let you shoot mine. Desert Sportsman's machine gun match is on the second Sunday of the month.

Like 444 said, a DBS is the place to be.........for FREE!!!!!
But first; the commercial ranges........
My first suggestion is to check on the NEW location for "Discount Firearms".
(Maybe "Guns".) They SHOULD have moved by now; just behind the Stardust on Highland Ave. Totally NEW facilities and a REALLY good staff.
(I just like them!) Now; DBS..........
3rd Sat every month in Sloan; exit 25 off I-15. Map available on various posts on the Hometown board at ar15.com MOSTLY regular, consistent locals with a WIDE variety of VERY interesting toys (even mortars! ) that draws from stragglers and regulars from PRK. Could be from 15 - 50 attendees any weekend; weather a factor. PM or e-mail for further....

I'd love to load up a buttload of ammo and make that DBS shoot - unfortunately I have knee surgery Friday. Maybe in another month or two!
I guess it is just a personal issue with me, but I can't get past these guys wearing uniforms and all that crap. I could understand a pair of BDU pants, but these guys are wearing helmets ? That is way to wannabe for me. I know Larry was in the military, so was I, but I don't contiue to dress up in a full uniform complete with helmet 20 years later when I go out shooting.
But, to each his own. I am sure these guys have fun. It just doesn't look like something I want to be associated with.
On the other hand Valkman or Citizen or whomever, why don't you show up to Desert Sportsmans tomorrow about 0845 and shoot the machine gun match ? You can use my guns.

It has loooooooooooonnnng been my intention to get my butt out to Desert Sportman's and it WILL occur some Sunday......hopefully soon.
I, also, find the combat clothing somewhat strange....occasionally.......but that is what America is about. Freedom of choice. No diff' to me. Glad they enjoy it. And since that's about the extent of aberration demonstrated by a few out there, I'm GLAD to go!!!!!MORE fun than ANY other firearm experience I've had!! Overwhelming for some; just hangin' around for others......and a damn friendly group!!! The summer shoots often have campouts overnight; gotta love the sound of full-auto in the mornin'!! 'n tracers at night!!!! Tannerite, too!! (Think I'll try to make next Sat's DBS!)

Thanks for the offer 444, but my knee just won't let me. Hopefully some day I can meet you out there as I usually go all the time.
I haven't seen much of the guys that shoot the DBS - uniforms and helmets sound kinda weird but hopefully they're just playing around. Hopefully.

You could have had a good laugh on my dime.
In the first stage I started off at a furious pace. You had to engage 5-6 plates at about 50 yards with a rifle (I used my AR of course), then put the rifle down on a table and pick up your subgun. Eventually, I got to a single plate that I could not hit with my subgun. I have no idea why. I fired burst after burst and it laughed at me. I ended up shooting three full magazines and ran out of ammo without finishing the stage.
The second stage went much better but was nothing to write home about for me.
I know it is partly because I rarely shoot my subgun, and my subgun is pretty crude. But I could have cut my times in half by shooting the whole thing with my semi-auto AR15. I feel pretty certain I could have beat the fastest time there using my AR on semi-auto.
Of course I have also spent considerable time training with my AR15. But, never the less I am still a big believer in accurate fire as opposed to full auto. I expend at least three rounds on every single target with the subgun and still sometimes miss completely.

I'll be there in a few days with some buddies. We've got a little bit of money to spend and want to know how to get the most bang for the buck. It sounds like you have to pay dearly to rent Class III.
Any ideas or recommendations to ranges?

I'll back the Gun Store on Tropicana.
Been there the day after ShotShow'04. people are friendly, and took my Russian Federation foreign passport with no surprise when i rented the P226 for little fun. the same time somone shot the MP40 in the next lane
but the most impressive view was the one of the store men filling the belts for FN Minimi 5.56mm SAW (AKA M249). They also have some sort of ull-auto m16 or M4, i believe.

I second the Gun Store, and beware that it can get REAL crowded on weekends. Next would be American Shooter's Supply on Arville, about 3 miles from the Strip.
For reasons irrelevant here I have been OUT of the loop recently; BUT-
I suggest you also contact Discount Firearms in their NEW location on Western Ave, about half-a-mile behind the Stardust Hotel. Their range is brand-spankin'-new, as is the store. Ain't contacted them since the Shot Show; hope they're doin' OK.........(reminds self to get up there!!)

Have they actually moved now? I got tired of checking with them - they said they wouldn't know if they'd need to hire anyone until they moved.
