A friend of mine (no, its not me :D ) spilled a Bud Light all over the receiver of his Bushmaster. We cleaned it out with Hoppes, and can't smell the beer in it anymore, although we're not sure if we got all of it out of the trigger group.

Will the finish or integrity of the parts be harmed by beer? Is beer acidic, basic, etc to the point where it could harm a firearm?

I don't think beer is particularly corrosive, but if you want to be sure you got it all out just rinse the receiver with scalding hot water. Make sure it is good and hot so that the receiver dries itself with residual heat. Then relube.

Bud light comes in an Aluminium can, AR receiver is aluminium, sounds like a good match to me. :neener:

Serriously, seperate the lower and the upper remove bolt carier and seperate bolt, wash with hot water let dry spray with breakfree or other clp and you will be ready for action. AR-15s are pretty durrable and rust resistant.

Yeungling Lager goes better with an AR.

Heh... thanks for the advice, guys. How about steel and parkarizing, are those beer-resistant as well?

Just give it a good cleaning and you should be good to go.
Theres nothing beer that is corrosive to your AR parts.
Oh..If your buddy was a true friend, you'd be drinking Miller Lite.

Pretty sure you'll be ok. If beer is corrosive to the metal on a gun, I'll be in trouble with the amount I've been putting in my stomach :eek:

:confused: From the title, I thought this thread was whether to buy an AR vs Bud Light. I'd have had to say go with the Bud Light. :neener:

<-----beer elitist

Bud light i'd say is only useful for target practice. Seek revenge on it.

Back to my sam adams winter brews. mmmmm.....tasty.

Fella's;

"About time someone realized the problem with having guns and beer in the same place..."

Oh the horror! Planet earth, repository of all guns and all beer. What's a mother to do?

P.S. Though I must admit that I have a hard time calling Wudbowser Light - 'beer'.
