Strolling through my favorite LGS, I came upon an odd item, a large ring Swedish Mauser. It was from the Karl Gustaf factory, and bore the inspection mark HK of Helga Korbett (sp?), who also inspected a more conventional small ring M96 that I own.

It has been badly bubba'd, with the barrel cut down and recrowned, and it wears an abominable Tupperware stock. Still, there is probably something redeemable there.

Has anyone ever seen a milsurp large ring Swedish Mauser? I can't find anything on such a critter.

YES! There was an M/39 basically a k98 in 8x57. Most of those were reworked into 8x63 as the M/40.

Just a note, the 8x63 Swedish(Bofors) is NOT interchangeable with 8mm-06.

Very interesting link. Thank you.

The rifle I saw was in 6.5x55, and very distinctly had the Swedish style bolt. Wonder if Bubba did that, too. Have to check to see if the bolt has the third lug.

I really have no need for another bolt action rifle....... :) Really. This time I mean it.
