Looking through the scope at a coyote
One of the guys shot a 7 point with a wide but low rack.

It was still in velvet.

It was a doe. :what:

It had no twig or berries. It had all the female parts. Bodywise, it was as big as most whitetail bucks we've taken the past several years. We figure she's at least 5-1/2 years old.

The game warden said that he's heard of this a few times and that they don't normally shed their antlers, and they stay in the velvet. He's even heard of deer with both sexual organs.

He said to tag it as a buck, which we already did because of the antlers.

I'm now going to call the guy who killed it the 'Freak Hunter'. Last year he dropped this ancient spike. It looked like an Impala or something. 9 to 10 inch spikes, no teeth at all on the bottom, and scars all over him. Yep, Nick is now 'Freak Hunter'. Maybe he'll get a 5 legged deer next! :D

Still, meat is meat, and it makes for a pretty cool story.

I've heard of antlered does before. They say it is caused by a hormone imbalance. Kinda like some women growing mustaches I guess
