ODI Viking Combat 1911 slide - same as regular slide?

I was wondering if a Viking Combat commander sized slide at the local gun shop can be utilized on a regular full size single action 1911? Any quality issues with their parts?

Not noted for quality. The only one I ever worked on was soft (improper heat treat). Internet/errornet rumors seem to bear that out. You might get a good one, you might not. Bottom line on any brand Commander spec slide - it will have a reduced slide stroke on a full sized frame that may or may not allow proper function with your particular combination of slide/frame.

the shop also has a used Charles Daly regular 5" slide that looks pretty good, better than the Viking actually. do you think that would be better? this will be used on a Foster (Caspian seconds) frame.
