I'm trying to find out the standard spring weights for the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical

OEM Recoil Spring - 18# (I think)
OEM Mainspring - ??# (can't find)

I'm trying to ask as I'm getting a Kadet II kit and I hear you can't change the mainspring to light otherwise the Kadet won't fire properly.

So, if I can't change the mainspring much (I understand that is mainly for DA) and still use the Kadet, can I change to a "competition" hammer to reduce SA weight pull and reduced trigger creep without compromising the Kadet functionality?

That sounds like a good question for CGW.

Well, per your advice, I emailed David to see if he has time to answer. He's busy I understand. A few weeks back I emailed asking how long it would be for a tune up job on the SP-01 and let's say, it is good to be David. He has lots of work to do! He must be doing well.

My Kadet works well (no FTFs) on my 75 B with the CGW 13# hammer spring. I've compared the firing pin strike indention and it looks stronger than some rifles I have. Others have said that they have to run the 15# hammer spring to avoid any FTFs after the gun had a couple hundred rounds without any cleaning. You may have to give your particular gun and Kadet Kit a try to see how it works.

I too would like to know what CGW says about their upgrade hammers relative to your question. I suggest you call them instead of e-mailing. Perhaps coincidence, but they've picked up the phone every time I've dialed them.

I have a 13 lb spring in my CZ75 and also use a Kadet conversion slide. I was getting roughly one light strike / failure to fire in maybe 50 rounds. A buddy has the exact same setup and he was getting about a 30% failure rate.

I pulled out his firing pin and dressed the striking surface a VERY tiny bit to decrease the frontal area (it is already wedge-shaped), and we clipped about 2 coils from the firing pin spring. That has cured his light strike problem completely. Oh... you also want to make sure the firing pin channel is very clean and free of any burrs, etc. I'm sure it is, but a long Q-tip will tell you for sure. :)

(since my buddy's pistol problem was solved, I also clipped roughly 2 coils from my firing pin spring and I have had no further light strikes either)

Also - I DID talk with CGW about it and they have NO solution to the problem. They said that clipping the firing pin spring would not work. At one time they had extra-length firing pins that worked, but when they marketed them, users stupidly dry-fired their pistols, causing damage. CGW will not sell them anymore.

That's my experience.
