I am considering a .22lr semi-auto pistol to eventually suppress. Suppression is only one factor in my decision. I mainly want to use cheap ammo. I am debating between two options - both of which cost about $300:

1. Walther P22 - I've shot it, loved it, barrel comes pre-threaded and can support a suppressor with a cheap thread-adapter. Bonus: I've got another gun (another receiver).

2. CZ Kadet-Kit (.22lr conversion for my CZ-75 SP-01) - I've heard good things. Some have alluded to it being a better gun and better platform for suppression. However, I don't get to own another new pistol and I would have to pay to get the barrel threaded ($100? More?).

3. Not really on the radar but a possibility: I have a Glock 19 I could switch to .22lr. I'm not really that interested in this though...

What do you think between the CZ Kadet conversion and Walther P22? How do they stack up on their own? Obviously, the CZ is huge compared to the Walther - probably good from a training standpoint. How do they stack up with suppressors? How much would it cost to get a Kadet barrel threaded? Any input on the Kadet? I don't hear much about them.

Walther P22

I have a P22, but not a CZ or a Glock in .22 cal. I love my P22, and is very fun to shoot. With a fair amount of accessories to choose from, they look good with or without a silencer. I do not have a silencer, but I am considering getting one.

No comparison. Do a search, the Kadet Kit is one of the most reliable and accurate .22's out there and even rivals my modified 5.5 inch bull barrel Ruger MK II for accuracy. The Walther may be fun to shoot but it is pot metal junk compared to the CZ.

well....being that I don't know much about the CZ, I'd probably opt for another gun and get the P-22. I've shot it before, I like it enough.

And, I'm a sucker for another gun. Conversions, not so much, even though I do understand their values.

The Kadet Kit is a great investment, weither you supress it or not. Extremely accurate and reliable. Tons of fun for not a lot of $$$$.

I own both the P22, which is a neat little gun, and the Kadet kit for my CZs. The CZ is a much, much better unit, I know its not a whole gun, but the quality of the kit far outshines, in my opinion the P22. That said the P22 is a cool looking little .22. I only wish we could suppress our .22s here in NYS.

From your input, I have decided to pick the Kadet over the P22 - My girlfriend and several friends have P22's anyway so I can always try out the can on their pistols with an adapter...

PPGMD:
You don't have to get the Kadet kit threaded, you can buy them not only with the barrel threaded, but with the needed adapter.

So this is the exact same factory Kadet conversion as I would buy otherwise; except that this has the barrel threading and adapter included for less than $100 more?

I'm trying to restrain myself from clicking "Add to Cart" right now. I'm going to try to dig up some dirt on this. Is there anything negative about going this route?

This is perfect! Can anyone convince me otherwise?

Too late - purchased the TI kit - can't wait to take care of Class III stuff, get a can and start suppressing...
