I know Weaponology is one of the not-so-good shows in terms of accurate information but I always thought Doc Atwater was pretty accurate in his portions of the shows but he just made a big error.
Whilst downloading music and music videos on my iPod, I have Weapology going in the background. Subject is the SAS and at the time focused on the Browning P35 High Power. Doc Atwater mistakenly called it gas powered.
Then, while discussing the reasoning the SAS went from the HP to The SIG P226, a couple folks demonstrate the difference in accuracy/precision, one of which was Ken Hackathorn. One guy shooting the SIG the other the HP. Different sized groups (the HP looked to be at least twice the size of the HP, the gun Ken was shoting), hence the reason for the change. A poor experiment IMO, particularly a poor showing my Ken. (Just before that the narrator, who I hate due to his lack of knowledge about anything military, state the ambidextrousness of the SIG . They even talked about the new laser grips for it, further .) Now I like the P226, it is my favorite centerfire handgun to shoot, but I've never seen a disparity in accuracy between it and the HP as much as what was displayed.
Cripes I thought that show was starting to improve. Doesn't look like it.
