I seem to be in the minority here, but I enjoy getting several gun-related magazines, including Rifle, The Handloader, the American Rifleman (of course), Gun Tests, Shooting Times, Guns & Ammo, Shooting Illustrated, Guns, the American Handgunner and The Shooting Sportsman. I like reviewing articles describing the latest in firearms, ammunition and reloading. Yes, I read most of them sprinkled with the proverbial "grain(s) of salt" but I still find much of the information interesting if not valuable.
I grew up in an era (the fifties) that was pretty much devoid of firearm-related information directed to the general public (the American Rifleman, the Shooters Bible, Gun Digest and the shooting columns of Outdoor Life-Jack O'Conner, and Field & Stream-Warren Page, excepted). I think younger shooters are jaded by the glut of information currently available from many sources, including the internet, and don't have the perspective that some of us older shooters have. My only comment is that if you don't like the content of contemporary "gun rags", don't buy them. But for some of us, at least, the current, if much disparaged, firearm-related magazines offer a useful resource for learning what is interesting in today's world of guns.
