I pull out a box of a hundred primers, get setup at the loading bench, open the box and there are only 99 primers inside. So I wonder, was there a missing primer from the factory (unlikely), or did one fall out somehow. I didn't shake the box or anything, normally I know if I've dropped a primer. So now my wife won't vacuum around the bench. I don't know if there is a primer something on the floor or not. Spent an hour looking, but that just means I either didn't find it, or the box came with 99 primers.

Argggghhhh!!!!! Just venting for everyone's pleasure :).

I had one like that, once. Found the missing one loose in the carton when I pulled the rest out. Just run the vacuum or shop vac with a filter over the intake to keep it out of the bag. Old panty hose or rags work.

In over 800,000 primers used, I've had one box that came from the factory with a primer missing. Nobody is perfect, especially when dealing with millions and millions of the product......

Hope this helps.

I buy most of my primers at a retail store (not mail order) and it's not unheard of for me to get a box of primers home and have one missing. I suspect it comes from the customers who handled the package before me. If you've done a thorough search I don't think you need to assume that you lost it; it probably came home with you like that.

And thus the term stuff (or whatever) happens. Thinking back I can't recall a shorted package but I guess it can happen easy enough.

The panty hose over he shopvac is a brilliant idea. It could be floating around in the storage container. Since I live in Florida, I put rice in the bottom of a small Styrofoam container, then put the box of 5000 primers in that container. It coulda fallen out one of the holes in the corner of the cardboard box, I have plenty of spares from my boxes that I did ladder loads from.

I once had a UPS man pull in the driveway & while I was waiting on him to hand me the package he throws the package across the the truck bouncing it off the back door. I told him if he knew what was in that package he wouldn't throw it like that. He said why what's in it? I said 10K primers enough to take out that back door. I'm pretty sure he changed colors & he always handled my packages gently after that.

It really has no relevance but I do like telling that story.

I've never been sorted a primer thank goodness cause it'd really mess with my OCD. A bullet is bad enough but a primer would be 10 fold.

O geez get out the vacuum and don't worry about it. I used to load on carpet and always ran the vacuum over the carpet picking up powder, shot and a few primers from time to time. I now load on a plywood floor and use the shop vac to clean up the area. If I don't put a block in front of the press when depriming a few make it to the floor and I have had a few live primers make it to the ground that I couldn't find but the vac finds them. Seams like a bunch of worry about nothing.

Matches my experience. If you ever checked the flammability of the dust and debris your household vacuum usually picks up, a few flakes of powder and a few live primers are the least of your worries.

Don't spend too much time hunting for the primer. Sooner or later it will make itself known.
Yup! I've lost a few under the freezer that used to sit next to my reloading bench in the garage. Thought I'd vacuumed them all. Except one, popped when I moved the freezer to get rid of it, Got the adrenalin going! But no big deal.
