Sorry guys and gals, but I've had it in my head for awhile now that it would be extremely cool when hunting to have a pair of goggles of some sort which simply constantly magnify everything to approx. 1.5x. Maybe 1.25, 1.75, or even 2.0 power possibly - something like that. Just small enough magnification that you can walk normally without difficulty, but will basically just allow you to see further into the trees, and make out deer eyes/ears/tail more quickly. This would be especially useful when stalk hunting the woods, since constantly bringing the binos up and down to and from your eyes creates movement that I don't want.

Ever seen such a beast for sale? Is it feasible? If not, why not? It needs to be unlimited depth of field, or at least if not unlimited, then covering the "anywhere from 5 yards out to 60-65 yards" range - that's the range I'm looking at under the forest canopy when stalk hunting. Ordinarily 10 out to 45-50 yards only.

I think it might make for vertigo, and vomit for many people...

...But it might work. Time to mock something up for field trials.

I trip in the woods enough already, just glancing down through bifocals.

2x glasses with the focus set for far-off tree gazing would be a trip to the ER for sure!

Try a golf distance finder monocular type device. Not exactly goggles, but probably the closest you could find. (I use one when hiking.) Goggles would probably trip you up and I've never seen such goggles in any outdoor catalog.

In any case, human eyes are hunter's eyes.

Have you ever gotten a new pair of glasses with a much stronger prescription?
It's not a fun time till your eyes adjust.
It may take me all day to walk a mile. If I get within 30 feet without seeing a deer in deep cover they normally snort at me because I startled them.
If your not seeing them soon enough you may be in to thick a brush to get a shot or you may be walking to fast.
