OK here it is.....My 1858 Remy built from a kit from Dixie. I finished it way back in the spring.....May I think. Never posted a pic until now because I just didn't know how. But today I found an excellent post by A Walker on how to do just that, and HEY!....... it's not that hard to do.
This was my first and maybe my last kit......haven't decided yet. So now what I want is your criticism, praise, or laughs and giggles. I admit I got impatient and should have spent more time on it.....but I wanted to shoot the dang thing.:D

No secret. The barrel and cylinder came already blued from the Pietta and I had the frame blued in a satin finish....just to be different I guess:)

GOTC

Hello GOTC, There's no place near by where I can shoot at a respectable distance. But I was able to shoot it once at a friend of a friends place where I paced off what I believe to be about 25 yards. At this crude range shooting at a piece of cardboard with a bullseye drawn with a magic marker the POI seems to be about 1 1/2 inch left and about 4 inches low. I'm reluctant to go filing on the sight yet until I'm able to shoot some more at that distance.

NCWanderer..That should be accurate enough to feed you or protect you if need be, especially after you mess around with it for awhile and learn it better....(I guess just to have fun with to. [I alway's forget to add that part[) Hey, guns are fun!!

On any Pietta or Uberti Remington I have owned (four of them) I have had to file some off the front sight to make them hit POA. I've also had to tap the front sight over on the Ubertis and turn the barrels on the Piettas.

Hellgate, yes I'vd had very extensive work done on 5 Pietta '58's (Army) and on 3 Uberti Cattleman's Carbines. I still have them and wouldn't take anything for them but Man!! It took me years to get all of that paid off. The gunsmith is a close friend of mine and I worked it out with him. I paid him off just like paying off a new truck or something. They'll shoot though, no question. Smooth and easy actions, timing set. trigger set, parts hardened and polished, the whole shebang. Each one of those 8 pieces has a barrel that is above Match Competition. So I reckon I know what you mean!!. One of each would probably have been enough. I can't wear one of those guns out I don't give a damn how much I ahoot it. But I sure am proud of them, I can't help myself....
