Last weekend I am at my lease in Southwest San Saba County, TX. Around 9pm, our camp is visited by 6 Blackhawks on manuvers presumably out of Ft Hood.

I have been on the property two years, and never seen these manuvers. They transversed the 600 acre property repeatedly, flying @ around 2000ft, back and forth. No spotlights, but it was loud enough for us to be unable to talk easily & enjoy the fire & the quiet. I assume they were testing their nightvision whatever; this part of Texas is very sparsley populated, and is covered with large hunting ranches with many remote camps.

We were all quite angry that we were being apparently used for some Afghan training camp substitute for well over an hour.

Several of us (6 are on the property) grabbed our spots & started shining it @ the helo's just to let thm know the noise & intrusion was not appreciated, and they left only to return an hour or so later.

Has anyone seen this before? It was unnerving and infurriating to not be able to enjoy the remote, quiet solitude we pay a lot to enjoy.

I consider it a blessing when one of our military aircraft flies by my neighborhood low enough to see and hear it. It gives me pride as a soldier, and as an American.

Be glad it's not every night.

Flying over, yes. I agree. Being the apparent unwitting participant in training? Not so much.

I read the original post 3 times and can't for the life of me figure out how it is remotely related to guns or legal issues.
