I picked up my Performance Center 3.1" Shield Plus today....

I'll probably get to go shoot it later in the week. It is ported, but that is the only way they sell that model. I have a standard barrel I just ordered for it, so I can swap the ported barrel.

Done collecting Shields now :D

I NEVER cared for fiber optic sights before. But I am REALLY loving the ones that S&W uses - there is a metal spiral round the light rod to protect it. And, the combo of the red/green goes amazingly well. I am glad they all are not the same color.

3 of these Shields has that sight setup. Now that I am around 50, they really help my eyes see the sights when at my indoor range.

I just traded my 2.0 for a Performance Center 3.1" Plus. I was considering replacing my sights with the HI-Viz fiber optics but decided a full upgrade was worth it. At 70 the fiber optic on my Springfield Ronin .45 told me it was time to go with the new sights on other sidearms, so I replaced the white dot on my Beretta APX with factory front & rear set.

So, which do like better, the performance center Shield + or the performance center 2.0?
which has a better trigger. Nice collection by the way, I'm jealous.
I'm in the market for a new one.

I liked my Shield 2.0 but took some time before I was able to really like the hinged trigger design. I had shot a non- performance Plus and liked the flat trigger right away, I anticipate the PC Plus to be a bit nicer.

My favorite, hands down, is the 4" Shield Plus Performance Center, followed by the 4" Performance Center Shield 2.0.

The 4" Perf Center Shield Plus has the best factory trigger on a striker fired gun I have ever tried. I've seen many Youtube reviews claim the same thing. The 4" Shield Plus is now my new, main carry gun.

I haven't shot the 3.1" Shield Plus yet. I just picked it up today. I'll be trying it out later this week. But, in general, I like 4" guns better anyway.

The new 3.1" Shield Plus will be an occasional pocket gun, replacing my 1.0 version of the Shield

I've never tried those, maybe time for an old dog to learn a new trick.

Yea, I am impressed. I kinda backed away from buying so many of the same gun. But, they are all different models. Not exactly the same. You should check em out, though.

@Shipwreck, can you swap the two slides on the Plus models?

The objective is a 4" Plus model with a functional thumb safety.

Nice grouping you got there, btw.

According to post #3 on this thread, it should work... That guy in post # 3 did something similar to what you want to do...- He put a 4" upper on a 2.0 frame. He said it works...

However - the guy in post #7 did something similar, and he had an issue with a failure to feed...

Realistically, it SHOULD work... But, you'd have to take a chance...

I knew I was buying a Ported 3.1" Plus, and I called S&W to see about ordering a non ported barrel. From what I read, the Version 1 Shield, 2.0 Shield and Shield Plus all use the same barrel. I asked if I could put a Shield 1.0 barrel in the Plus - the woman said it is "not recommended." You will see that quote by others when they contacted S&W about your question.

I called back and spoke to another rep at S&W. He looked it up in his computer while I waited, and he said all 3 barrels are identical, and it would work fine. So, I guess it depends on who you ask.

Only thing was - S&W does not sell barrels on their own. You have to order them thru 3rd party vendors - Which is what I did

I have question. Why does the 3 in only come with a safety but the 4 inch is available without one?

I believe the 3.1" is available with or a without thumb safety but the 4" is only available without.

But I don't know why. I want a 4" Plus model with a safety but they dont offer it. :cuss:

I do enjoy my Shield (.45acp M2.0 w/safety). I suspect Major Sheppard would have carried a Shield of some kind.
