I searched the forums and haven't seen any posts on this one yet so figured I'd get some discussion going. Has anyone handled or shot the new Performance Center ported barrel Shield yet? I've always wanted to get a Shield and am wondering how this one is, and how it compares to the standard Shield. It comes with the ported barrel, Hi-VIZ brand fiber optic sights, and an enhanced trigger, "short, consistent trigger pull measuring 6.5 pounds" per the S&W website. What's the comparison between this trigger and the standard Shield trigger? Is it still better to just get the APEX trigger kit?

Trying to decide if I should get this new ported barrel Performance Center Shield, or just stick with the standard Shield and upgrade to an Apex trigger and Ameriglo sights.

I would say stick with the standard and get the upgrades. Don't think I would want a ported Shield.

At only $40 more than the standard model it seems like a good deal. But if you watch the video they have on their web site it looks like it sure throws a lot of fire out of those ports on the barrel not sure that would be to good at night. I just sent my shield back in because the trigger was pulling at 8 lbs so they could work on it . It feels better now but haven't measured it yet. I think they told me the enhanced trigger was supposed to be 5-5.5lbs instead of the standard 6.5
