My form 4 was received on Nov 25. Usually they cash the check well within 2 weeks of delivery. No dice yet. Are they running behind on this aspect as well since they *ahem* "streamlined" everything?

Just did a form 3 transfer, took 5 weeks. But I figured the form 4 was a revenue generating transaction for them.

Its been a year or so since my last NFA venture. Those of you with more recent experiences, what say you?

It says form 4 trust, form received to check cashed, in last 6 months.....8 days. Im over three times that.

Should I worry? Who/how do I get into contact with to see if I need to cancel check and re submit?

Okay sorry folks been looking at December statements. Check was cashed on Nov 29. I apologize for wasting everyones time and bandwidth.

Your $200 tax just gets dumped into the general fund. They don't make any money off it. <Deleted> NFA stuff is a nightmare.
Dealer I bought my sbr from lost my local FFLs fax then did not tell me! Put a check in the mail for the sbr December 18th 2010. My local dealer did not get the rifle until 4/12/10! The check for my forum 4 individual was cashed on July 7th. So in late November I call the ATF. They tell me an error letter was sent out on Nov 23th to my "dealer". I call my local dealer. We wait two weeks for the letter, nothing. Then "I" get a letter from the ATF dated Dec 5th. Says I did not put my social on one fingerprint card. I'm so glad my local Sheriff's dept help me fill out those cards correctly! Thanks guys! Then again when I told them I needed finger print cards for an NFA forum 4 transfer the counter monkey just gave me a insulting yet clueless stare. I had to mention ATF to get any sort of response.
So I took that 5sec to pen in my social and priority mailed it back. Never mind the fact my social was already on the other paper work they had! I'm thinking I might get the rifle by Christmas 2012. Then again my examiner is Sandra Snook whom my dealer keeps saying he's had problems with before. The moral is??

1. the gov sucks, but yeah you knew that already.
2.Make sure your paper work is correct. Don't trust anyone. Not your dealer not your local Sheriff's dept.
3. Call on your status monthly. Be it Forum 1, 3 or 4.
4. Plan on buying several other non nfa guns to play with wile you wait!

Sorry to all I just had to vent... I'm an NFA virgin and my first time is going roughly.

Have a Merry Jesus virgin Mary Christ-ly Christmas! And yes I hope "you" were offended by my holiday greeting. Boo!

Guy I know, had a Halo still on a form 3 at my dealer. I ask "how much?" he says he wants $450. Being Christmas and all I was broke, so I offered him $200 just to reserve it and let him know I was serious. He stated that if $200 was all I had, then to use that on the stamp itself and pay him after Christmas.

Sooooo guess whos on my Christmas card list now.

If ya are gonna get worked up over waiting... Stay away from nfa and custom work... You'll go nutz. ;)

I bought used like new tac off of a 80 year old lady last year. It was her sons who was a close friend of the dealer I used. He vouched for it and I took a chance.... I waited n waited... Turns out she had my cleared forms for over a month, she did not know what they were or to call my dealer ;) it all worked out in the end.... I wondered what was takin so long....

Play the game long enough and ya will see all sorts of crap!

What are you guys applying for??? What is NFA?? National fire arms?
Is this for suppressors?

NFA items are: silencers, machine guns, short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns.

In the case I am referring to, it is a suppressor for a .223 caliber rifle.

Mine went to pending on July 28, still waiting. I was thinking it would make a nice Christmas present from me to me, oh well....I lived a long time without it.

Yeah I may think twice before buying anything NFA again. Then again NFA stuff is soooo cooool......... To the due with the july 28th dude. Transfers are taking about 5-6 months right now.

My machine guns took 8 and 9 months each that was in 1995 good old days. I'm sure it is faster now days with background checks.

Should I worry? Who/how do I get into contact with

I'd like to know too, I'm about 7 months since my checks were cashed for a pair of SBR builds. My first SBR build and suppressor were 4-5 months.

My C&R renewal got "lost in the mail" but I got a "replacement" three days after I called the number on the old C&R. They were friendly and efficient, which kind of shocked me.

Is this the number for "everything"? FFLC: 1-866-662-2750

I'd be grateful if anyone knows the proper number to check form 1 & 4 status or if there is a way to do it on-line.

They cashed the check for the Osprey today (mailed Thursday) Check for Halo was cashed Nov 29. And I plan on getting a Sparrow come tax time.

Anyone ever of anything coming up with having too many forms in process? Such as looking at the schedule A and seeing items not yet approved?

7/13 check mailed. Just got stamp, sbr on a trust. So around 6 months.

Good luck.

Just don't call and harass them!

If you do they take down your name and pull your form and put it in the bottom of the stack for being a "complainy pants".

The people that answer the phone and answer status inquiries are not the examiners. Now if you specifically ask to speak to your examiner a bunch for no reason they might do it out of spite, but the people that answer the phone look up your status as part of their job description.

lol @ Thorazine......not so much.

And Ive had forms take anywhere from 45 days to 197 days. Just send it and call after the 1st 90 days to see what examiner has it and when it went pending. Then just call once every 30 days to make sure you catch a potential problem early/see when it went approved. Right now people are reporting 6/mo waits.

Research and buy your next one to take your mind off the 1st. lol
