Okay, I missed that Lee has a new powder dropper

The "Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure" is a new (web site says new for '24) version of the "Perfect Powder Measure".

My questions:

Does it reduce leakage? I stopped trying to use fine-dust powders like Enforcer in my PPM. It leaks huge amounts. And it leaks a little of all other powders, too.

Can I use my old PPM drums? I have many already adjusted for various powders & measures.

Not having to use the riser would be nice. One less component to come loose / adjust.
I had the same issue with Enforcer leaking in my Pro Auto Drum I took a file and filed off a 1/16 of an inch of the stem on the powder drum that you put the screw into that pulls it into the housing I can now use Enforcer , W296 and any fine grained powder without it leaking powder onto the press .

I made that joke on the slab before the first catheter operation. The anesthesiologist literally laughed out loud. He said. “I like your sense of humor. Now count backwards from…”. And the next thing I knew it was a day later.
I wonder if they did just reboot me? 🤨
At that point all one can do is joke. I watched mine on a video and don't recall joking.
But, yes, for both of us it was a reboot:) I'm as happy for you as for me.

I saw a video of a guy doing that but I wasn't sure what he was filing.

The stem, eh? I'll try that. Thanks!

Yes file the stem it lets you pull it in a little farther and tighter . one more thing I do is put a little powdered graphite on the tapered drum face before you put it back in , it seems to help , i don’t do it every time I take it out though.

The Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure is not new. Lee has had an all-metal Deluxe PPM for years. There may be a new version of it, but what I see in the pictures is only slightly different than what they've been selling for a long time.

I had one. It worked fine. I don't recall how consistent it was or if I ever measured that. I don't recall it leaking. I didn't have leaks until I got their Auto Drum measures with the plastic drums. That was the reason I moved away from the metal-drum Deluxe PPM, when I bought the then-new ABLP. After loading many thousands with those, I've come back to charging cases off-press using a Harrell's Pistol measure. The pistol measure is good for handgun, 223, up to PPC-size cases and is very accurate. For anything bigger, I trickle.

Deluxe Auto Drum is new for 2024 with red hopper and cover instead of clear hopper - https://leeprecision.com/deluxe-auto-drum-powder-measure
Those are awful junk. I'd never get anything like those again. I had two and can confirm it's a rotten design. I can see from the picture they didn't change anything important. Mine had the red acrylic hoppers also. The only thing that's new is the red anodized swivel adapter in lieu of the riser which I never used. I never needed the riser on the ABLP with normal-length dies.

The sector and pinion gears on the Auto Drum result in too much pressure on the case mouth. It smashes carefully-prepped case mouths. Might be fine for fodder built with range scrounge. The "molded nylon" drums will definitely leak. They have to be adjusted loose to get full travel and consistent drum cavity fill and emptying or if they're tightened down to try to stop leaks, they drag too much and charge consistency goes out the window.

From PM:
Does it have Turnkey fitment on 6 pack pro?
It is but usage could be different. I have used manual C-H powder measure on Dillon 550 but it is a manual index press.

I have email out to Calvin and will share his response.
While standard threading will screw into the spline drive breech lock bushing (Like C-H 502 powder measure for manual index Dillon 550), SPP is auto indexing progressive press and Deluxe PPM is better suited for bench mounted standalone use. Here's Calvin's response:

Auto drum being case activated helps guard against double charges when auto indexing. I feel that the Deluxe PPM is best suited as a bench mounted tool.

Not arguing the point.

I started with the ProAutoDrum when it was released and learned proper adjustment into the die. Yes , you definitely can adjust it to apply too much force to case mouths. You can also adjust it to work properly with pistol and bottleneck cases without damaging the cases or the powder measure. The instructions are not that helpful as I remember.

The first molded drums were hit or miss for sure. The newer machined drums seem to work without leaking.

I guess we were all beta testers! :D

Well, I loaded over 200 rds of .32 acp with 2.0 gr of HP38 last night. Not sure if the light charge matters but I don't think it dropped a spec of powder!
