Of course SHE has a gun. What's her record on how she applies the law in relation to you or I having a gun? That's what matters.

Lots of supposed anti-gun people are only opposed to you or I having them. THEY do and will have them. Hypocrisy, like stupidity, is not unheard of in politics.

Are you serious? she is a republican representative in Florida... You know, like, "Castle Doctrine" Florida? Does that say anything? :)

Democrat Senator Diane Finestein ALSO has a CCW permit, so I can't see the correlation between having a permit and being PRO-gun!

Yeah, it seems that many liberals who have a hand in politics seem to have one set of principles for themselves and another set for the rest of the world. :(

Like Rosie O'Donnell and her armed body guards. "Well I need them because I have received threats." EVen though she preaches that no one should have guns.

Has Katherine Harris ever done anything anti-gun in her time in government service? Has she ever helped pass anything pro-gun?

I don't know the answer to those questions, but those are the important questions.

Not Rosie O'donnel or Diann Feinstein. Good heck, can't anybody ever post anything in L&P that isn't negative or actually pertinant?

Katherine Harris' Voting Record

"Has Katherine Harris ever done anything anti-gun in her time in government service? Has she ever helped pass anything pro-gun? I don't know the answer to those questions, but those are the important questions."

I was curious, too. So I looked up some info.

Katherine Harris' Recent Voting Record (of Interest):

Firearms Manufacturers Protection bill S-397 Voted YES
Border Security bill HR4437 Voted YES
Real ID Act of 2005 HR418 Voted YES

There is a lot of good information on the elected folks at Project Vote Smart

It can help when it comes to election time.

So she thinks a national ID card is a good thing...I'm sure there's someone better out there. S.397 didn't matter all that much anyway, as all the suits were coming out on the side of the manufacturers without it. It was attempt by the Rs to look like they were doing something for the firearms community, while actually doing nothing of consequence.

The one good thing is that she voted for HR 4437. That was one solid bill.

...But Wait, There's More!

From the Washington Post - 05/17/2006

And last weekend she did well target shooting. Harris had told the St. Petersburg Times she had a concealed-weapons permit that lapsed, and was taking a refresher course to renew it.

But then on Saturday she said she had been mistaken and may never have had a concealed-weapons permit. "I thought I had, but I'm not sure if I did or not," Harris told the Times. "You think I would have known, but I never had this kind of training before."
Well, what was it? A library card?

"If the act's mandates take effect in May 2008, as expected, Americans will be required to obtain federally approved ID cards with "machine readable technology" that abides by Department of Homeland Security specifications. Anyone without such an ID card will be effectively prohibited from traveling by air or Amtrak, opening a bank account, or entering federal buildings."

Thats your "papers" to operate like a citizen. Required by your government. Illegals don't need em, aren't required to have 'em. They don't open bank accounts, enter federal buildings (of their own will), fly or ride trains much (they drive uninsured cars with or without driver's licences).

Once again, the answer to security concerns: infringe on the rights of the citizen in a misguided effort to control the non-citizen.

Harris? Typical politician. Can't remember if she has a CCW? I aplaud her getting training, but I have some serious questions about her mental preparedness.
