I have this old box of 50 - 30 Mauser rounds that I have a few questions on.
I got it when my grandfather passed and held onto it. He ran a small sporting goods shop in the 60/70s so it is probably from that time.

First - does this ammo have any value in it?

Second - if it does not hold value can I still shoot this ammo or does ammo have a certain shelf life?

Third - I have read that 30 Mauser and 7.62x25mm are very similar cartridges and can be used interchangeably is that true?

Here it is to look at:

I doubt it is old enough to be too valuable.

It is post WWII, and I don't see much in that style box here.

However, if you don't have a .30 Mauser to shoot it in?
Might be worth selling it for what you can get.

Yes, I do know that.
But they are not the same thing.

According to Starline Brass:
30 Mauser O.A.L. is .980" to .985" while 7.62x25 O.A.L. is .958" to .962".
If the .30 Mauser cases are fired with hotter 7.62x25 loads in the CZ-52, it will tear the neck off some cases.

I have no idea how hot Rem loaded it then, but probably not that hot by some foreign mil-sup standards.

Ok I will just save them for if I ever get something in 30 mauser - I don't plan to but you never know what shiny object will catch your eye at a gun show :)

Thanks rc knowledgeable as ever!

I think I gave a guy at a gun show $30 for a box just like that just so I had some original ammo to compare my reloads to. Then I decided I couldn't bring myself to shoot it. So I keep reloading my brass, and forming new cases out of .223. Wasn't lucky enough to be given a Broomhandle in 9mm.
Good to have around for dimensional comparisons...
