From what I can tell the 9mm, and most other cartridges have gotten weaker and weaker over the years. I loaded up some "max" loads and shot them today; 4.4gr Titegroup behind a 124gr JHP. The recoil was pretty light, and my factory home defense loads have way more pop to them (winchester ranger 124gr JHP). It just seems like I should be able to go hotter. Is titegroup just a low recoil powder? Anyway, anybody have any data that beat these? These are the powders I currently have to work with.

Bullet 124 or 125gr JHP 4" barrel:

Hodgdon Titegroup 4.4gr max 1136fps
Alliant Bullseye 4.4gr max 1059fps
Alliant Unique 5.8gr max 1180fps

Speer #13 shows data that beats that with two powders. Although I have not verified it all, I have found the Speer manual to be reasonable on the velocity claims, so I don't see why it wouldn't be close at least. Pick up that or the new #14.

That Bullseye and Unique load you posted are identical to the Speer #13 max charges with those powders, and very close to the Titegroup one.

Titegroup and Bullseye are too fast to get high end velocity in 9MM, especially with anything over 115 Gr.

Titegroup is on the very end of fast powders suitable to the 9mm.

There are many other better suited powders available for the 9mm. However, for cheap effective practice loads, I see it used a lot. Not neccessarily the most accurate or highest velocity...........but certainly cost effective for plinking/close range drills.

For similar application, I prefer HP-38/Win231. Much better accuracy and about 1,170fps from a 4" bbl. with a 115gr bullet.

For the 124gr bullet, I much prefer WSF or Hod. LongShot.......

I personally load a 124 Speer Gold Dot with 4.7 grains of Titegroup. No chrony yet. But it works great. It's my self-Defense practice load.

NOTE: This is overmax published data and could put your eyes out. Do not use this load until you verify it using your own system of starting low and working up, and remember that you only have two eyes and ten fingers. Using loads that are not published will make bad stuff happen if not careful. THR and Evan Price are not responsible if your gun explodes and makes you sterile, injured or dead. Etc.

Slightly off topic... what is the exact diameter of the 9mm Para bullet? I forgot to measure them this weekend, and now am in the UK and far away from the bullets and calipers. :(
