My friend just bought an old winchester solid frame , nickle , he says mod 90 of which only 3 were made one of which went to Teddy Roosevelt , is he dreaming ... Rob
Solid frame Winchester model 1890 are rare and highly collectible. If it is a factory nickle it and and original gun it will be a high dollar gun. Pictures are needed, serial number and pictures of the markings on the barrel.
If the barrel is marked model 90 it is not the original barrel. The gun will still have a good value. You can get a letter on the solid frame Winchesters model 1890.
What caliber is it in?
The solid frame model 1890 was only made for the first two years, but they still turned out 15,000. Winchester would do nickel plating on special order, I bet there are more than three and I hope he didn't give a lot of money for it thinking it was Teddy Roosevelt's without impeccable documentation. It would still be pretty valuable if in nice condition FACTORY nickel.
If it was made in 1941, the final year of production, there were only 3 made, but Teddy Roosevelt died in 1919, so he couldn't have received one of these 3.
