Old colt revolver help

Hey guys,
I need some help or suggests. I have a Colt Pocket Positive in .32 New Police(or something like that) basically its a .32 SW Long. Unfortunately part of the forcing cone in missing and something is wrong with the action but I dont know what.
I dont really want to shoot it but it would be nice if it was in safe firing condition. It was a gift from my girlfriends father. He used to carry while delivering beer in the 50's.

First, a partial serial number (567XX for example) would be useful in determining the age of your Colt Pocket Positive. This revolver is the same as the more common Police Positive model except the Pocket Positive has a smaller, more rounded handle. Police Positive lockwork will work in the Pocket Positive. I can’t comment further about the action because I don’t know exactly what is wrong with it.

Two possibilities concerning the barrel. If the end isn’t too badly damaged it might be set back a turn or two, and the damaged part faced off. Then the throat could be restored. If this isn’t possible a new Pocket Positive (3†or 3 ½â€) or Police Positive (2 ½†to 6â€) barrel could be fitted. For parts, including barrels, check out: www.e-gunparts.com

Old Fluff, Thanks. The gun was made in 1920 so its an oldie.
The trigger does not reset most of the time it just kind of flops around. A good quarter of the Forcing cone is gone. I am guessing the timing is messe up too.
It probably does need a new barrel.

I suspect you have a bent or broken mainspring - or the hand is broken or missing. Fixing the gun will probably be expensive, but if it's a important piece of family history I'd ask cylinder & slide for an estimate.

These little guns make interesting, and accurate shooters. A made-in-1920 revolver could be rebuilt into a nice fun-gun. The basic quality is there.
