That is a beauty. Everytime I think I have no practical use for another steel .38 snub nosed, I see a Colt like yours and feel the class inherent in such a beautifully made weapon.
Can I ask you something. Could you look down your sights and see if they are lined up exactly? Or are they leaning a hair to the left (it's barely noticable if it's there) Mine has a slight lean (not enough to throw the sights off affecting my shot but it is there) I am wondering if all 2cond gens had this little quirk (seems like I heard Dfariswheel say that at some point on one of the forums)
Doug, all the DS models (or Cobra etc) that I have seen have no noticable problem with front sight.
But I have a snubbie Lawman with the front sight machined crooked. Really, looking straight down on it, I can see that the thinnest part of the sight is not in line with the base part, and hence not in line with the bore. Needless to say, this gun has the barrel rotated an amazing amount, in order to shoot straight.
My old eyes are so worn out, that I can't tell it if my front sight is ever so
slightly leaning~! I have another Colt 2nd series (1947-1972) DS
that is factory nickel; and has only been test fired a total of six rounds.
A very good friend of mine made me a deal I just couldn't refuse; as he
offered me this old Colt, for a brand spanking new S&W 642. See the
attached photo, its a little better than the other one; but not as good
as my friend Sat's.
Those two Troopers are my entire inventory of same to date, but the family's always growing.
I've been a hometown team boy, all my life, I'm just glad they show up and are, under coach Johnson, apparently improving.
Too bad 'bout those three UT players arrested and suspended, I'm afraid they are following in the mould of Haynesworth and Pacman, (and not with just local teams) --thuggery before sportsmanship.
Ok more show me yours, I'll show you mine, watcha got in Smiths?
(Always wantin' to learn something new...)

That's a pretty 'back, Big, bet she shoots like a dream with that big ol' tube. AD, I really detest the rubber grips on any revovler, my 696 is waiting for a re-boot when I find a sexy look. Here's few Smith's...

Ya'll have some beautiful weaponary there my friends. WoW~! Two
classics (Colt Diamondback in .22LR) and a (S&W model 43 .22LR
Kit Gun) on the same thread; what a blast from the past. Guess
I had better shu't her down, as I don't want too embrass myself.
I mostly agree with Mark Twain that an expert is the village idiot, ten miles from home; therefore take the following with a grain of salt.
I thought Colt had quit using "Coltwood" plastic grips by the mid-50's due to quality control complaints and customer dissatisfaction. My Dick Special is about the same vintage as Ala Dan's, and has nice walnut grips.
