I just picked up my very first, old model Super Blackhawk, as pictured below:

I just love the classics.

Considering having the frame color case hardened to give it a touch of class?

No, since the bluing on my SBH is so beautiful and this revolver had come to me in NIB condition, it looks pretty "Classy" as it is now! So, I wouldn't want to do anything to alter it's originality?

Purdy, very nice. My Brother in Law has an old model like yours in 4 5/8" that I have been drooling over for years. Congrats on the find! Bill

D$$$. I didn't know that some early BlackHawks came with brass frames. Is it factory? That sure is one beautiful handgun. I like the brass frame with the blue finish. Really sweet. Notice how everything fits and flows. Congrats and be safe.

Gator is on it. Call Ruger. I have on several occasions and they are very nice and can give you the 411 on the gun. Either way if you paid moderate market 3 screw prices you have a fine specimen of revolver. I have a original model Vaquero I wouldn't mind putting a brass frame on. Ya I know about the weight but that is not a problem. It will help when or if I can find some 180 gr ammo for it. I wish I was a reloader but not yet. Looking at buying another house that has a nice basement so that may become a reality.

Very nice Ruger. As mentioned, call the factory. I just missed a local auction yesterday that had a NIB, brass frame .41mag. I checked the serial number and it was original from 1972. Sold for $3000

I called Ruger regarding the brass grip frame-but, my SBH didn't ship from Ruger originally with this brass grip frame! However, I removed the grip panels and I confirmed that the brass grip frame is a genuine Ruger part number stamped on the grip frame as MR-3DB! So, it was added as an accessory. This SBH was NIB and unfired!

Holy Moley! I remember when OM Blackhawks were CHEAP.

You can still find them for a reasonable price if you look. Lots of guys only think the flat tops are worth anything. I got my .41 OM for three bills.

1)Thanks, for all of the compliments!

2)Although I wasn't looking for an SBH-I just couldn't pass this one up-since it was an old model and because you just don't find these "Super's" in NIB condition everyday-besides, I didn't yet, have a SBH in my collection! It was beautiful-and, it didn't have a mark on it anywhere-not even a trace of a cylinder line!

Extremely nice find!
I have a 3-screw .41 mag and the 3-screw SBH is on my short list this year as well as some caliber with a 4 5/8" barrel.
That's an awesome score with the correct box and all. It will only go UP in value if you take care of it.
Regards,
WFR
