I was working a trade for some old PC parts I hadlaying around when the guy asks me if I wasnted an old muzzle loader as part of the trade. I say WTH not and he gave me the rifle in these two pics. The only markings are FIE Italy on the hammer side and .45 caliber on the other.

What can anyone tell me about this rifle?

This looks like something from the late '70's. 1970's, that is.
You might want to check the twist. Some of those rifles had pistol rifling. i.e.
1:22 or 1:18.
Not good for a patched round ball!

I don't know much about FIE, but IIRC they were lower priced replica type ML in the 70's

Picture isn't big enough to tell a lot of detail but it looks like a copy of the Mowry type rifles..

Nothing wrong with that..

Just don't use very heavy loads until you are sure of what you have..

It looks to me a lot like those "Morse" carbines that were being sold in the 70's and 80's. I believe they were 0.50 caliber, and had a receiver that the barrel screws into which contains the lock mechanizm and a two-piece stock.
I dopn't recall who imported them - maybe Dixie or Navy Arms?
