This afternoon I placed an old Parker shotgun on layaway at a local gunshop. I am looking for some information on it before I go and pick it up. I know very little about Parkers in general, here is the information that I have. 32" steel (not damascus) barrels. The serial number is 126XXX. On the inside of the action there are the markings Kf 4 with a 7 above the 4. There is a number 2 on the locking lug and a V over the serial number on the receiver. The gun is in good condition, bores are good, stock is pretty decent with a small chip out of the toe and buttplate. Checkering is still sharp, maybe about 30% casecolors and 50% blue remaining. The action is tight. They want $425 for it does this sound about right. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

$425 for a Parker sounds indecently low... I've never seen them for less than about double that, in any sort of good condition. If it's for real, you've got a bargain!

BTW, what gauge - 12? 20?

I was so busy writing the description I forgot the guage. It's a 12, hope that helps. Any info would be appreciated.

Alex:
There are several Parker Dbl Bbl mfg's, the most common is attached. Does this look like yours?

If so, I can email the disassem, w/photos if you like. Tried the email address shown, however it was returned undeliverable.

Thanks for the info sheet, that would be the gun, I forget what all was written on the barrel rib, though it did say Meriden. I don't know much about Parkers, but I do have a fair number of doubles so I didn't have any problem breaking it down. Thanks for all the info, I'll post pics when I pick it up.

Alex, if you want to PM me with some more information, I've got a copy of "Parker Gun Identification & Serialization" that'll give you more info on your shotgun and whether or not it's factory-original, etc. "126xxx" was built in 1904, according to this book, and it'll tell you the proper grade, etc.
