Old pics

Most of the old gun related pictures I have aren't on the computer yet except for hunting photos. Putting in a few now and then. Did find one of me that was taken at an NRA High Power match circa mid 1990's. IMG_9489.JPG

Holy cow, but that one is begging for a snarky caption... On a couple of levels.

Sadly, some show such sensitivities that I'll withhold.

Trust me, I took a beating from the other guys for months over that. Everywhere I turned in the squad room, even in my mailbox, were accusations related to "pig-on-pig" or other "anti-pig" violence. Even a huge poster of a pig that had been on the wall before I started there, which had always been labeled with "(our city's) finest", had added a cartoon bubble with "Hey, J, have you seen my son?"

Use to go hiking in the backwoods with my brother. I carried a Ruger Speed Six under my field jacket and he had a Browning Hi-Power. Both of us felt we were fairly well armed for anything that might come our way. Those were great times tromping through the woods!

While I was TDY on Ft Polk AMU, one of my squad leaders filled in for me. Every time I came in from a trip, he would bug me about how easy I had it on the rifle team. Took this picture for his benefit at a motel in Odessa where we were staying during a three day rifle match. The gun club president owned the motel and it looked like a small army post; don't think there was a single civilian registered that weekend.

I showed him the picture and told him he didn't really want to be on the team as we never got a moment to relax as we spent all our down time dry firing. Unfortunately, the Margarita on the diving board was hidden by my M1. I don't think he bought it, though.

Regards,

Not many gun pics for me other than the usual range photos.
That's a much younger me up on Maybe. Best horse I ever had. Not skittish, even around cat scent (although she would let you know she didn't like it!)
She was called Maybe for her tolerance to gunfire off her back - maybe? or maybe not! Just depended on her mood that day.
I always carried a butt forward Model 12 with No. 4 buck for cats in addition to my .38 Spec. Colt SAA.

Thirty years ago out of Farson. I used my .264 that day.

Things were happening slower the day before...
