Well at a pawn shop and their sat a well, very well, used S&W 3914. Grudgy but tight. Even without the mag in the gum would not rattle when cocked.

$219.

So got some old hostlers I don't use at all.. and mags for guns I didn't have anymore, and traded them and $38 bucks and the gun was mine.

Took it apart to the bare frame, cleaned, reassembled, and shot. 20 yards standing two handed with Winchester ball factory ammo. Eight shots fired.

Dang good gun!

Deaf Smith,

$219?????

Hope you didn't pull a muscle or pop your back out-of-place yanking your wallet out to buy that baby!! Why can't I ever fall into a deal like that? Good for you!

Sam

Well I have that gun by my side right now. I'm tempted to have it NP3 coated (except the sights.)

Yes I have Glock 9mms, including the 43, and I have Sig 9mms, including the 239, but I have to say the 3913/3914 series are not bad at all.

It will get you though the night.

Nice find! Had several of them over the years and they were all very reliable and capable of some fairly decent accuracy.

Congrats! The direct descendant of Paris Theodore's famous ASP pistol. Perhaps the finest semi auto to leave the S&W factory. And IMHO the finest single stack 9mm carry gun extant. Enjoy that fine nine!

i got my S&W 3913 quite a few years ago in a trade and a few dollars going their way, it came with 4 mags and the box in like new condition. i have carried it more than a few miles over the years and tho i never used in my defence, i always felt it would do the job if called on. eastbank.

I have the S&W 909, the "Value Line" version of the 3906. I have one more round in my mags than you. Nyah nyah.

:p

A good deal and good shooting. I had the use of a 3914 for some time, and later acquired a LNIB 3913. For whatever reason, these little guns seem to be more accurate than I would have expected a compact semi-auto to be. That, coupled with flawless reliability, make these little guns excellent choices for carry IMHO. I was carrying a SIG prior to finding my 3913. The SIG was an excellent pistol too, but I have no intention of switching back:D

I wonder if SW made a mistake calling the it Lady Smith, I never heard of someone that dislike the gun.

If I recall correctly, S&W dropped the Ladysmith rollmark after awhile and left the rest of the pistol the same, before discontinuing it entirely.

And in typical 3rd Gen Smith fashion...they seem to last forever.

I was a 3rd Gen Armorer for my Agency....we were like those unhappy Maytag Repairmen....nothing ever broke.

I forgot to mention that I used a borrowed 3913LS to pass my very first pistol qualification back in the dark ages (1997) to get my Massachusetts License to Carry. I couldn't hit diddly squat with their Ruger MKII, but the S&W was a natural.

I have a 4013 I bought way back in the early 1990's when the .40 was becoming all the rage. With the stainless slide and lightweight aluminum frame that gun is a bit snappy in .40, I wish I had bought the 9mm 3913 version instead.

Nice find!

The only gun I have kept with the "backwards safety" is the 3913 I supposedly bought for my wife. I've phased out all of the other slide mounted, up to fire, safeties in the interest of a standard manual of arms, but can't quite bear to let that one go.

Good catch, and, heck yeah I would have bought it for that.

I had a 3913 years ago. At some point I was stupid and let it go in a trade for something. I finally found another in a LGS. I got all excited until I saw they wanted over eight hundred dollars for it. Best carry gun I ever had until the Shield came along. Congratulations, you did well. Very well.

I had one many-many years ago. I couldn't shoot it to hit the side of a barn 10' away. The gunsmitth that worked it over gave his test target at 20 yards, all into one ragged hole about 1.5". I slapped my forehead. I took it to the range and the trigger was now excellent at about 3.75 pounds SA and a touch under 8 DA pull. I still struggled to be consistent. Sold it with about 600 rounds through it. Picked up a 6904 and that one is still with me. At times when these threads come up on the 39XX I think of that one.

I wonder if SW made a mistake calling the it Lady Smith, I never heard of someone that dislike the gun.
The LadySmith line was several existing models modified "to make them more appealing to women".....

The model 3913LS frame was slightly different from the 3913, and the LS did not have a right side safety lever. (The same goes for the 3914 series)

There was also a 3916NL which was the same as the Ladysmith, but did not have the "Lady Smith" logo on the right side of the slide.

OP congrats on a fine addition to your collection.

My personal cold weather EDC is a 908s (value line 3913). Is a superb pistol that shoots like a service sized pistol but carries so easily IWB.
