I received this pistol from my father. He said it was my great-grandfather's. I took a quick look at the date on the barrel and asked him if he was sure he wanted me to have this because it's pretty old. He said that it's only 1977. I told him it was time to get to the eye doctor because it's stamped 1877. I know those are only patent dates and the date of this thing could be anything.

I have no idea what caliber it is, I'm guessing .32 but the cylinder is short. The number that is stamped on the bottom of the grip is also stamped on the face of the cylinder.

What is it? What is it's value (it's priceless to me)? What caliber is it?

Here is a picture of it next to a 5" XD.

Top break. Ejection star ejects the rounds while it opens. It's a 5 round cylinder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

I believe it is an old Model One and a half centerfire; they were made between 1878-92. Not sure what it is worth.
