old savage rifle in .308

I was offered an older savage rifle model j606451 from a nice seasoned lady who is deathly ill.
The rifle is in bad shape cosmetically and from the looks of it it was shot and left filthy for god knows how long. It has a green plastic stock and the barrel is threaded for whatever. I can't seem to find any info about this rifle on line. Anyone familiar with this firearm???

Sounds like a hog hunter. There not very old.

Yea, the Hog Hunters, or any of them with a green plastic stock are fairly recent.

Thanks for the imput folks. I found out that the Savage in my temporary possession is called AXIS.
It has an acu trigger and front/rear sights that are very lose. The original price seems to be in the mid 3 hundreds. I haven't an idea what to offer her.
