Is anybody going to San Antone?
Met a fella out in Johnson City, Texas today. I wanted some ammo he was selling. Unfortunately his brother passed and I bought some left over stock he had. I recognize the name fiochi but that's it anyone tell me about the other companies here? One is a German brand (I think?) Never heard of Hansen ammo either. IMG_20200125_153134_6.jpg

I used to buy & shoot the Hansen 9x19 in the mid'80s. Decent ammo. I read somewhere that it was a brand owned by Sellier & Bellot(?).

Hirtenberger brand I know from their excellent-quality 7,62x51 NATO milsurp ammunition. They have a good reputation.

I have never heard of Parabellum Research.

The Hansen is most likely Israeli, Portuguese, or Yugoslav...Hansen (from Connecticut) bought from all 3. Hirtenberger is Austrian, and Fiocchi is from Italy. What headstamp is on the Parabellum Research ammo.

As long as they are factory, and not somebody's reloads, you should be good to go with all of them.

I have shot ammo pre-dating WW2, and the only problem that I have ever had was with some. Pakistani .303 from the 1970's. Almost every round was a hang fire, as in click, one-one-thousand, two-one BANG!

Hansen was good stuff. I had a bunch of it with Israeli headstamps and it all shot with no problems. Hirtenberger is good quality ammo, just make sure it's not the L7A1 loading as that was loaded too hot for handguns.

I have never heard of the PBR stuff. Found it on the internet and it looks like a company making remanufactured ammo ("factory reloads"). Maybe good, maybe not. Who knows.

Parabellum burned in 2018. I think their production facility may be back in production now.

One of the indoor ranges in my area carried Parabellum Research ammo as a budget line for shooters that don't bring their own ammo. I never purchased or used it -Academy Sports and Outdoor stores are all over this city offering fresh factory FMJ handgun ammo at lower cost per round. I heard about the fire last year from the range employees when I asked where they sent all the range brass. They didn't seem to have a Plan B where else they might send their range brass.
