Decided to take some shots of my two (yes, only 2 rifles) today.

Which one do you prefer?

Wow. Hard choice... The wood is very beautiful, but I like the look of the second photo too.

Which do I like best? Both.

If you could get your hands on a Kentucky Long Rifle or something similar, that caption would be great with the Long Rifle and an Ar-15 as crossed rifles.

Also, I don't the S is 'marksmanship' is supposed to be capitalized.

Really nice work though!

I like the photo on the first one better. Much easier to make out what it is. Also the wood stock is more suggestive of a connection to early American history, even though the rifle is a modern com-bloc semiauto design.

Hmmm... an American tradition with a Russian rifle, or with a European rifle... hard chioce.

Just yanking your chain a little. I love the concept, but would prefer to see an American rifle.

That was my above post count.

How ironic is that?

Great photos. Reminder: "Kentucky"/"Pennsylvania" rifles were derived from German designs.

On typeface: use heavier type, and use more contrast in the second poster. Maybe retouch to remove the legend "AQT military target".

I like the first one better. It has more color and texture in it, although I think it could use a little more lighting.

If you're anywhere near me, I'm happy to loan you my Garand for your reshoot. :D

I really like the first one. The second one doesn't seem as vibrant to me.

EDIT: Here's my take of the second one.... if you mind, I'll take it down. :)

That is a great concept for an image. I like it with the SKS, and I know that is all you got to work with however I think it would be great with a Garand IMHO.

Nice idea, but I'd prefer an American rifle for the picture.

I know. I wish I had an American rifle to use. A Garand or a M1A would be perfect, even a 1903A3 would work.

But I own only two rifles, the SKS and the CETME.

Who did the cammo?

Chad, I painted the CETME myself, using krylon spray paint.

Wow, looks like the rifles group exactly the same for you.

LOL. Actually, that group was shot on my CETME yesterday @ 75 yards. I don't think I could get my SKS to group that tight, especially with the ammo I feed it.

Oleg,

Good advice there. I was working a little quickly, so I will probably go back and rework both of them.

If you're anywhere near me, I'm happy to loan you my Garand for your reshoot.

OK....but I doubt that I would give it back. :D

BTW: What kind of SKS is that?

It's a Chinese SKS.

Thanks again guys.

Nice rifles! I especially liked the furniture on the SKS.

However, as many others have pointed out, the first thing that jumped into my mind was "American" and then, "SKS?"

You've said you've only two rifle, and that's fine. Looks great!

Next time see if you can borrow a Garand or AR-15 or something? :)
