I tried some Olympic 5.56mm that was given to me when I bought my Mini-14. It was the 62gr SS109 stuff and it was not very good. I had some Winchester and UMC to compare at the same time and the Olympic did not group anywhere near as well and had 4 FTE's out of 50 rounds. No problems with the other brands.

You didn't mention price, but I think the best deal around for local purchase is the Winchester White Box Valu-pak 1n 115gr FMJ at Wal-Mart for $10.99 per 100 rounds. Shoots clean and has good consistent accuracy.

I shot maybe 500 rounds of it in 9 mm as play-ammo for my P99. No failures but I did reject one round while loading a magazine. The bullet was malformed, like it was gripped hard with a pair of pliers.

Maybe a little extra-sooty but it cleaned up just fine.

So, IMO, decent plinking stuff.

No problems with the 9mm Olympic. A bit on the hot side. I don't see it locally anymore..once in a while I'll see it at a show. Made in Greece and has been used by our Armed Forces in the past IIRC.

Thanks for the info everyone

George its $99.99 per thousand.Doesnt include shipping. 124gr fmj

I will prolly just wait till the Dulles gun show and pick some up there.

I've used some 8mm and it seemed fine. I have read a lot of negative comments on various boards but I didn't have a problem with it.
