Was wondering if anyone has knowledge of the Greek made Olympic ammo being unsafe for the older 03-a3's. i read they are not suitable for the garands because of the gas system, but i have a 40's era o3-a3 sporterized with the original barrel and didnt want to damage it if this stuff is too "hot" for the garands. is it mainly because of the gas system or was the steel used to make the weapons not strong enough to handle the ammo as well. any input is appreciated. thanks, dave

The issue with the garands is mostly the speed of the powder, the resulting pressure curve, and its impact on the gas system (operating rod).

Your 03A3 should handle any loads that are safe for other '06 bolt guns.

Olympic is probably one of the worst ammo manufacturers out there. Don't do it. Don't shoot Olympic in any gun you care about.

However, the Greek surplus made in the 60's and 70's is affordable and fine to shoot in it.

It was bad for everything from what I heard. I've never tried it, however, if you look for information on it on the boards it won't be long to hear horror story after horror story.
