My platoon had purchased our own Leupolds for our rifles but are now using the issued S&B's. Being fortunate enough to claim the "combat proven" glass I want to mount it on my own rifle but without all the layers of paint it has accumulated. What's the safest and most effective way to remove the standard tactical spray paint?

I've read that rubbing alchohol will take off Krylon. From experience I know that brake fuid will take off EVERYTHING.

Good luck, BSR

That might work.

Rubbing alcohol might do the trick. I had figured paint thinner would damage the coating or even take off the numbers on the turrets and stuff. Rubbing alcohol could loosen it up just enough to where some elbow grease will pull it off. Thanks a lot!

What ever you use may have penetrating powers and get inside the tube, then it may be junk. The scope is nitrogen filled, but from military ops the seals may be going away. Best go to the maker's customer service.
