I had a 5 shot bandoleer on my Westernfield/Mossberg 550AD but after some thought I removed it, Last nite I was dry firing and sholdering the gun and noticed that the gun seemed muzzle light!
I got to thinking and realized that I had 5 oz of "00" buckshot, shotshell components weighing a good 4 oz, and the minor weight of the fabric Bandoleer. All totaled at least 1/2lb on the right rear of the stock where I didn't exactlly need it!
I removed the Bandoleer and Bingo! the gun just jumps to the sholder! The 20" bbl now has a little weight forward for a steadier aim too!
For the need of extra ammo, I am going to buy a nylon ammo belt which can hold up to 25 shells if needed and will be out of the way and weight negative on the gun. Just sling it over my sholder and it;s out of the way but still available.
You can also carry it in your "Bug-Out-Bag".
My whole idea with my HD gun is to streamline it, no extras to get in the way or add weight (I have a bad sholder).
My Shotgun has a 5 shot magazine and with one up the spout you have an instant 6 and you can just feed as you go...

Hooray!. You just discovered what many of us have been saying for a long time - simple is best because all those extras add weight where it affects handling, K.I.S.S. really is best!

I kind of like the receiver mount side-saddle carriers... They may not be pretty, but they keep the weight centered over the trigger, they are out if the way, and readily accessible for pretty quick reloads.

I just wish I could find one made from nice leather, plastic doesnt compliment a wood stock well at all

I think all those add-on are really slick helping the shooter. The add-ons slick up your money so it fly's out of your wallet faster!

A great way to carry ammo onboard your shotgun is by way of a sidesaddle.
They may not make sidesaddle models for YOUR specific shotgun, but what you can do, is stick fuzzy velcro on the left hand side of your shotgun, and attach these:

Shotgun cards!

You load up as many of them as you want, and when you shoot and reload from the sidesaddle, you tear away the card on your gun, and replace it with a fresh one.
This is the method that 3-gun shooters use.
I haven't tried it yet, but this method has reports of being effective, and is also an accessory for the military's Remington 870 MCS shotgun.

You may also not be comfortable with the idea of sticking velcro on your gun, though, I wasn't, but Vang Comp systems makes a platform that puts the velcro on your gun - in my case an 870 - without sticking it directly to the gun, it's costly, though.
Hope this helps. good luck

Weight between the hands on a shotgun is felt a lot less than equivalent weight outboard of the hands...
