I had a 5 shot bandoleer on my Westernfield/Mossberg 550AD but after some thought I removed it, Last nite I was dry firing and sholdering the gun and noticed that the gun seemed muzzle light!
I got to thinking and realized that I had 5 oz of "00" buckshot, shotshell components weighing a good 4 oz, and the minor weight of the fabric Bandoleer. All totaled at least 1/2lb on the right rear of the stock where I didn't exactlly need it!
I removed the Bandoleer and Bingo! the gun just jumps to the sholder! The 20" bbl now has a little weight forward for a steadier aim too!
For the need of extra ammo, I am going to buy a nylon ammo belt which can hold up to 25 shells if needed and will be out of the way and weight negative on the gun. Just sling it over my sholder and it;s out of the way but still available.
You can also carry it in your "Bug-Out-Bag".
My whole idea with my HD gun is to streamline it, no extras to get in the way or add weight (I have a bad sholder).
My Shotgun has a 5 shot magazine and with one up the spout you have an instant 6 and you can just feed as you go...
